Antique English saucepan and lid. Maker’s mark reading “JONES BROS. 4 DOWN ST. W” for Jones Brothers, a coppersmith on Down Street in the Piccadilly area of London from the mid-19th century
Heavy and substantial with a wonderful aged patina. The steel handle is firmly riveted to the heavy gauge pan with rustic copper rivets and has a hole at the end for hanging. And same with lid, both steel handles have surface rusting.
The original tin lining of the pan has been partially worn away from many years of use so may need re-silvering if the pan is to be used for cooking rather than just decoration.
Lid and pan have different copper patina. Hang lid separately or work both together.
Pan is 31cm wide, overall 60cm with handle. 12cm high.
